. Notices of vacancies are advertised in the local newspaper.
Appointees are subject to filing a Statement of Economic
Interest, Form 700 and must complete an ethics training class
every two (2) years, pursuant to California AB1234.
The Mayor is elected by the five (5) Councilmembers, normally right
after new Councilmembers are seated after an election. The Mayor
typically serves a two (2) year term.
Terms are for four (4) years and are staggered. Two (2) Councilmembers
are elected at one election and then the next election there
are three (3) Councilmembers elected.

Kern Street, Taft, CA 93268. Meetings start at 6:00 p.m. on the
1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.
